How we started
Island Wheels was born out of a heartfelt desire to uplift our cherished island communities. It began when a group of locals noticed that many of our neighbors were unaware of the numerous benefits available to them, such as SNAP, Med-QUEST, and WIC. Realizing that enrollment in these programs was alarmingly low, we felt compelled to take action. Our founding insight revealed that financial stability often hinges on access to information, which too many were missing.
With the spirit of 'Aloha' guiding us, we developed a model where generous vehicle donations could fund a dedicated research service to connect eligible residents with vital programs. Island Wheels now stands proud, acting as a bridge between vehicle donors and neighbors in need—transforming donated cars into pathways for assistance and empowerment across Hawaii's diverse islands.
Our mission
Our mission at Island Wheels is to empower our local communities by connecting residents with essential support programs like TANF, LIHEAP, and more. Through the generous act of donating vehicles, we create a funding pathway that enables us to offer a free benefits-research service. We believe everyone deserves to know about the assistance they qualify for, and we’re committed to ensuring that no neighbor is left behind.

Why this city
Hawaii embodies a unique blend of cultures and communities, yet many residents in neighborhoods like Kalihi and Waianae face significant barriers to accessing vital benefits. With a population comprising diverse ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds, enrollment gaps persist in programs like Med-QUEST and TANF. By focusing on these areas, Island Wheels aims to bridge the divide, ensuring every person has access to the resources they need to thrive in our beautiful islands.
Join us in making a difference! If you have a vehicle you no longer need, consider donating it to Island Wheels.
