Donating sedans typically leads to auctions where they are sold to the highest bidder. If a car is not road-worthy, parts may be salvaged to help maintain other vehicles. Recycling is also an option for those that no longer serve their purpose.
In urban areas like Honolulu, sedans are popular for commuting to work and beach outings, contributing to local traffic and community life.
Pickup trucks are often auctioned off or sold to those in need of reliable transportation for work or recreation. If they’re not running, they can be dismantled for parts or recycled for materials.
In places like Maui, pickups are essential for hauling surfboards, gardening supplies, and outdoor gear, deeply connected to our outdoor lifestyle.
These popular vehicles are frequently resold at auction. If they can't drive away, parts can be recycled, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.
SUVs serve families throughout our islands, perfect for navigating both city streets and off-road trails, embodying the adventurous spirit of Hawaii.
Motorcycles can be sold at auction to enthusiasts or dismantled for parts. Even non-running bikes can find new life through restoration.
With our stunning coastal roads, motorcycles provide locals with a unique way to experience Hawaii’s natural beauty while enjoying the open air.
These vehicles are often auctioned off to families wanting to explore the beautiful landscapes of Hawaii. Older models may be dismantled for salvage.
RVs offer residents a way to enjoy extended vacations, whether camping at Haleakala or seeking adventure on the Big Island's scenic routes.
Boats can be sold at auction or salvaged for parts, especially if they require extensive repairs. Many are recycled to reclaim materials for new vessels.
In our island paradise, donations of fishing boats or recreational vessels help maintain water-based traditions and leisure activities, connecting residents to the ocean.
Commercial vehicles are typically auctioned to businesses or individuals looking for work trucks. Non-operational ones can be parted out or recycled.
These vehicles support local businesses, whether it’s a delivery truck winding through neighborhoods or a work van on job sites across Oahu.
Even if a vehicle no longer runs, it can still be salvaged for parts or recycled. Many of these vehicles help fund our programs through their sale.
Non-running vehicles are common, and their donation can help island families access essential benefits, strengthening our community as a whole.
Condition guide
Understanding the condition of your vehicle is essential for donation. Running vehicles have the most value and typically get auctioned for a better price, helping Island Wheels on its mission. If your vehicle is non-running, don’t worry! Many parts can still be salvaged, and even whole vehicles can be recycled. Our team will assess the best course for your specific donation, ensuring it still supports our vital programs.
However, certain title conditions may impact acceptance. Vehicles with salvage titles can be accepted, but they might be valued differently. Vehicles that are rebuilt or reconstructed are case-by-case. If there’s a lienholder present, we need to ensure it’s cleared before donation, and missing titles may hinder the process but can sometimes be resolved. Reach out to us for details!
